etching workshop

been attending an etching workshop on tuesdays which has proved really interesting - i'm enjoying it a lot more than i thought i would! my first worry was that because i've only ever seen etchings where someone has scraped away with a needle i thought it wouldn't suit my work, but there are more processes to etching than i originally thought, i tried out the 'soft ground' type. the first image is the original drawing i did to mark the plate, quite a few of the marks i made didn't actually etch because i didn't press hard enough but i'm happy with how it came out anyway. i added colour to the print underneath with tissue paper using a method called 'chine-colle'.
